WOOSTER — Fisher Auditorium will host its second comedy night Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
“Ticket prices for the event are $10 each and $5 for any student,” said Debbie Shaffer, director of sales for the Shisler Conference Center. “They will be available at the door, they can be purchased here prior to the show, over the phone or whatever works best. They can even be held at will call.”
In his continued effort to bring quality entertainment to the area, General Manager Matthew Scruggs said the first comedy night, held last year, drew around 300 people.
Opening the show will be award-winning actress and comedian Kathie Dice who finds humor in everyday life. She pokes fun at the rational — and irrational — world around her that invokes deep, penetrating laughter.
Headliner Jeff Shaw, a Rod Stewart lookalike, has performed nearly 9,000 shows across America and the Caribbean, including a stint in Las Vegas. His comedic routine is marked by idealism and humanity and is infused with poetic beauty.
According to Scruggs and Shaffer, attending a live comedy act has a synergy that must be experienced.
You might not find a particular joke funny, Scruggs said. But the person sitting in front of you might. And hearing them laugh makes it funny and that enhances the experience.
“I have seen Kathie Dice perform,” Scruggs continued. “She has such a wit about her and she tells these common-sense stories that you can relate to and laugh about.”
